First attempt at drawing Tahno. Trying to get used to his character design so I can play with it aka doodle about a kid’s show because that’s what responsible adults do in the magical age of the internet.

I can’t wait until the day college students are told to turn to page 264 in their Art History text books to begin studying the Age of Fan Art.
SO ANYWAY FIRST ATTEMPT. Ever. With no reference. And man I need to remember to erase before coloring OOPS.
Sharpie and colored pencil blehbleh he is so much fun to draw. BUT. I need to figure out a better way to scan in images than paint. T__T For real. Nothing uploads the way it looks irl, fhdjgksd.
Why? Oh, because it’s Tah(n)orra Weekend and I need to draw things because Tahno and Korra and Tahno and Korra and girlish screaming and I’d like things to look normal when I upload them ffs.

This is my hundredth post on this art blog.
One hundred posts.
That’s pretty amazing, you guys. So here’s something my side bar has always promised and I rarely deliver: the first drawn and painted image of two main protagonists from a series of graphic novels I’ve been plotting, scheming, scripting, and making concept art for for over four years. The original goal was to make three books [read: volumes] - each with three “chapters” [read: books] all from different characters points of view. That’s at least nine comics and I highly doubt they’ll be the same length as an average Western comic issue. Likely, they’ll be longer or split further. Three parts to each chapter maybe.
IT ALL HAS TO BE DIVISIBLE BY THREE AND I CAN’T TELL YOU WHY YET, BUT TRUST ME IT’S ALL GOOD STUFF.
Ahem.
These were the first true character sketches with which I was satisfied - though there may have been some modifications along the way (hint: there have definitely been some modifications). Ping on the bicycle and Azraen, Azrahin, Azraeyin, I haven’t decided how to spell that quite yet but you get the gist of it, is hanging out beside.
Any preferred spellings for our little green buddy? Even if you make them up yourself?

I may have uploaded this before but it’s worth uploading again.
It’s hard to grow up a twinless twin. This is a self portrait including how I imagine my brother would’ve looked had he made it this far. This may have also been in Gallery Night, if my memory is anything like it should be. At the time this was drawn, I had short blonde hair.
Somehow I know he still has my back. This was the least I could do to honor him.

This was the first painting I did in roughly a year at the time, I’d say early last year. Very early. Post-impressionist work I gave my mother for her birthday. Today it sits on the porch of our house, where it can easily be seen from the window. I like to think that’s a nice place for it.
